1. The room size in New York unfortunately is a matter of price but fortunately you are in New York and will have better things to expirience than watching TV in a hotel room.

3. The hotel is smaller than ones we have stayed in before, which is better as you don't need to queue for ages to get to the reception or to use the lifts.

7. Pack some earplugs, or ask to be put on the rear of the hotel (although the front rooms have a better view).

So it came, that I decided to try the Hampton Inn, as we got a decent rate (at least decent for Manhattan), in a good location next to my favourite neighbourhoods, and the big plus: it has opened just 2 years ago, so chances were high that their standards were better then in some other hotels that received their star-rating 15 years ago and didn't spend a dollar on renovation since.
