1. We arrived at 60 Thompson late at night exhausted from a 15hr flight from Hong Kong (memo to self: don't do HK to NYC again) but were still greeted by friendly smiling staff, we woke the next day and began our NYC adventure, we were advised by the breakfast staff to buy a weekly Metro ticket (29USD) which allowed us to travel anywhere within the Metro system (what a bargain and the Subway was safe and clean, we regularly had Police on carriages which gave us a great sense of security), we Metro map and system was easy to read and fun to travel.

5. This hotel has a beautiful restaurant we did not eat in but it also has a fun, pretty bar in the lower level, a covered area to sit outside on the street to have a drink or, yes, a quiet cigarette, and we were able to walk to a myriad of the best spots in Soho in just minutes because of kind advice from the concierge or front desk.

6. and, when we arrived, the lobby was quiet as we arrived on a Monday night, but from the moment we arrived (five fun women arriving for a celebration of a few us turning 50 from London and Connecticut), the staff was extremely friendly and incredibly accommodating.

7. Although the staff were very courteous and helpful, our fun weekend in the City got off to a bad start when we were told that the King Delux room we had booked was not available due to a late checkout.
