1. Hallways are a combination of old-world charm (beautiful wainscoting, moldings, wallpaper) and contemporary chic (purple and black carpets, oval-shaped mirrors on the outside of each door).

2. This hotel is in a beautiful, safe neighborhood close to upper west side shopping, theater and restaurants and it is easy to get anywhere in the city from this area.

3. It is not the cleanest of hotels or the most beautiful but it is a roof over your head, it felt safe, it was surprisingly very quiet (apart from New Years Eve) and there is a 24 hour shop downstairs that sells a lovely cappuccino.
