1. We didn't even open our suitcases, didn't want the terrible smell to get to our clothes.

2. We were shown to probably the most smoked-in room in the hotel, with a sofa full of stains, a lamp foot so dirty so my socks were black as I accidentally stepped on it, the bathroom had soap rests from earlier guests, but worst was the smell of cigarette smoke.

9. Apparently the ventilation system is a shared system and the 3rd floor is a smoking floor - so anyone smoking in the bathroom on that floor will cause all the rooms above it (at least up to the 7th floor) to smell of cigarette smoke.
