2. If pool/jacuzzi not important to you, the fee is a non-issue, and you appreciate a lavish decorating style (French, 18th century, I think?) this hotel is recommended for location and friendly staff.

5. to enter the room your first enter a small lobby which is shared with the next room so the elevator noise was not an issue.

7. One issue though, San Diego downtown is a bit sketchy - there are a lot of homeless and bail bonds places right around the corner from 4-5 star hotels like this and the US Grant.

8. THe rooms are not well insulated for sound from the outside, but given the quality of this hotel, these are minor issues.
