1. The shower is very, very hard to figure out how to operate and there isn't a sign explaining how to turn the water on/off (pull the handle out from the wall).
"Great historic hotel " Read full review on TripAdvisor   12/22/2011 Vote
2. The doormen are accommodating and friendly, and I was checked into my room in less than 5 minutes after I was asked if I preferred a hard or soft bed.
"A Thoughtful Hotel " Read full review on TripAdvisor   10/14/2011 Vote
3. )The location is hard to beat--close to the Schnitzer, the art museum, shopping, etc.

4. It was very hot in the room, but the ac wasn't very efficient and really noisy - I found it hard to sleep with it on and couldn't have it off.
"Top Class hotel " Read full review on TripAdvisor   9/21/2011 Vote
5. hard to explain, but when you know that Stephen King is a regular, this is Pavarotti's hotel of choice in Portland, and many other VIPs and writers have stayed there, you can't help but think that their creative energy may have embedded itself in the walls and may rub off on you [smile].
"Classic Cultural Elegance " Read full review on TripAdvisor   5/10/2010 Vote
6. I was talking to the doorman and he said it's hard to go on vacation and stay someplace else when you work there.
"Wonderful Place " Read full review on Travelocity   2/1/2010 Vote

8. (too many chefs seem to try so hard to concoct something unique and it turns out to be a disaster, this is not the case here) Notably: Oysters on the half with a simple yet delicious vinegar dip, Dungeness Crab Devilled Eggs with copious amounts of fresh crab, Steamed Clams with chorizo and sun dried tomatoes, House smoked Salmon with bagels and cream cheese (even though room service forgot my request for extra capers and I did not get any at all) nobody's perfect.
"Best Luxury Value in Town! " Read full review on TripAdvisor   5/10/2009 Vote
9. "" Perhaps it had been a long, hard day and by dinner, the crew was played out.
"Heathman, Portland Oregon " Read full review on Travelocity   4/1/2009 Vote
10. Parking: Over the course of 3 days, there was never a parking spot available in front of the hotel for valet parking; actually, we even had a hard time finding the doorman or valet during daylight hours.
"Great 3 star hotel. " Read full review on TripAdvisor   6/18/2008 Vote
