Our room was very small (expected in an old hotel in NO) but had 2 big windows that over looked Decatur street and we could see the MS river and the Steamboat Natchez The bad - You could hear the VERY
loud
calliope music from the Natchez.

Like some others at that time the TV's only had 2 volumes, quite and
loud
, and you could hear everything anyone was doing through the walls.

You don't get room service or elevators or plush (
loud
?) carpeting and chandeliers with an Inn such as this, but if you like all that, you better check into the Sheraton or Marriott or the like.

The worst part was our room was on top of the coffee shop next door, so we were awakened at 5am to
loud
trumpet music and they did nothing to help us.

They did have a housekeeping staff (surprise to me), but they were so
loud
in the rooms around ours that I wanted them to go away - it is not appropriate to scream, laugh, and vacuum the hallyway at 8:45am on a Saturday in the Quarter.

Yes, if you're in a room facing Decatur, it can be
loud
.

And yes, it's LOUD if your room is on the ground floor street-side.

The airconditioner had a motion sensor so it shuts off at night while you try to sleep and when on, was so
loud
you couldn't hear anything but the motor.
