1. We only found out about the refurbishment work on our arrival, and the only downsides to it were that only having one lift available to service the whole hotel was a pain as you ended up waiting a lot, and the lack of a bar meant that our evenings were not quite what they might have been.

8. Only downsides: Tenderloin district is seedier than ever, with open drug deals on the streets at night just a block away,; and, they charged $2 for what I assumed were comp coffee packets - no warning (there`s free coffee in the lobby).

10. There are a few downsides - lack of air conditioning is rarely a problem in SF but we did have some freakishly hot weather and felt it.
