2. Aunt Jeanne's getting on in years, and useless cousin Marco isn't doing enough to keep up with the maintenance on the property -- there were a couple of spots where the ceiling paint was peeling, the wooden floor squeaked a bit, and the windows could really use a wash.

5. The wallpaper is peeling, poor quality furniture is falling apart, chips on the toilet seat (yuk), the brass finished bathroom fixtures are worn, the floor tile (a poor choice to begin with) is chipped and the carpet is dirty.
