1. Just stayed one night at Public - beautiful lobby and restaurant/cafe - but that is where the 'wow' moment stops - tiny room - tiny tiny bathroom - with old fixtures painted over and carpeting that is not soft to the feet.
"It's all lobby - but what a lobby! " Read full review on TripAdvisor   5/19/2012 Vote
2. The rooms are still tiny, and now the beds are about 16 inches tall.
"Did not live up to the hype " Read full review on TripAdvisor   5/16/2012 Vote
3. Lobby is very grand, but rooms are tiny and bathroom even smaller.
"Inconvience! " Read full review on TripAdvisor   4/29/2012 Vote
4. I get wanting to be minimal, but those pre-war tiny bathrooms with a plastic shower curtain, and skimpy generic looking toiletries made me long for my own bathroom back in ny.
"a cliche of Ian Schrager hotels of the past ..... " Read full review on TripAdvisor   4/2/2012 Vote
5. The bathrooms are still tiny, not renovated, just spray painted white except a new sink i think.
"White paint & brown paint sprayed all over the place now. " Read full review on TripAdvisor   3/16/2012 Vote
6. I will say the rooms are tiny, but I didn't mind.
"Terrific service in trendy accommodations " Read full review on TripAdvisor   3/9/2012 Vote
7. There are stunning old light-switch /socket that totally clash with the new interior, carpet looks like just temporally placed (seemed not glued with all the cables passing under and over) and of a very low quality, air conditioning/heating is extremely noisy and looks as old as was the Ambassador West (former name of Public Hotel) door, walls and wardrobe are just painted white over (under still the old Ambassador stuff) and bathroom is tiny and definitely very poor in style.
"Cool hotel with some but.. " Read full review on TripAdvisor   1/3/2012 Vote
8. Then we walked into the tiny bathroom.
"Matters Public and Private " Read full review on TripAdvisor   12/25/2011 Vote
9. What we found to be the most impressive aspects of PUBLIC Chicago are:* the beautiful public (no pun intended) spaces - lobby, Pump Room, the Library & Coffee bar* GREAT service from staff - everyone was very friendly, helpful, and responsive* free WiFi throughout the hotel as well as 4 iMacs for guests' use in the lobby* very clean, modern, minimalist decor in rooms* some of the best towels I've ever used in any hotelThings we a little bothered or put off by were:* tiny bathrooms* no dresser in a Standard Queen room* location - the hotel is located in the beautiful/quiet Gold Coast, but it's not as convenient as many other major Chicago hotels.
"Mostly liked PUBLIC Chicago, but... " Read full review on TripAdvisor   12/12/2011 Vote
10. I found it odd that in a room with a Mom and two teens we only got one VERY tiny bottle of shampoo and body lotion.
"Quiet, basic " Read full review on TripAdvisor   12/22/2010 Vote
