6. While I have enjoyed expensive top-end resorts, I often find them a waste of money/time, since our priorities are to explore and get into the local stuff and not sitting around the hotel.

7. If you have the time, you should consider making some of your meals at the grill because Kauai restaurants are expensive and not always good and the hotel guests we met in the grilling area were all really friendly and gave tips on where to go.

8. We used the pool area late afternoon, we had a cocktail there during happy hour and they were nice (but a bit expensive but so is Hawaii).
