1. We had an 'interesting' time getting there in the maze of one-way streets but the location turned out perfect, a couple of blocks away from Dupont Circle where we enjoyed great food, the Capital bike share bikes, the Sunday Market and hopped on the metro to visit the Mall.

3. M street grill was nice & had good food, worth trying at least one meal.

M Street is a bit more commercial (Subway just across the street and a McDonalds one block down to the left) but you are in a residential neighborhood basically towards Dupont Circle and it appears to be a safe location -- I don't think there were any unsafe areas that we felt along M or New Hampshire streets to/from subway or restaurants.
