6. The problem is the really big money improvements were not done: no double glazing, no air-conditioning, no new bathrooms, no sound-proofing.

The transformation from the old motels was much more a makeover than a real refurbishment: clearly money was spent unifying the buildings with terarcotta-tiled roofs, nice gardens and a paint job inside and out (all essential to give the 'kerb appeal that will draw in customers of course), and new flooring and beds have made the simple but reasonably chic rooms more attractive.

9. I would highly recommend The Canary which is far more value for your money, gorgeous hotel, well appointed with air conditioning, upscale, close to downtown and the harbor.
