1. Nassere handed me my room key and a lovely gift bag with a brochure for the day spa and happy birthday/gift note from the spa owner and I was off to check out my room.

5. There is a roof top area with a spa and swimming pool and views over the city to the mountains although there was no food or bar service when we were there in March.

6. The highlight of our short stay was the rooftop pool and spa - a few laps, then a soak in the hot tub was a great way to start the morning, and the views over Santa Barbara were excellent.

The only reasons for not giving this place a perfect 10 are small, but here they are: No fan in the bathroom, tiny balcony (at least for our room) that is more for decoration (it was standing room only for 1 person), no in-hotel spa (but tons of them a few minutes away) and no fireplaces offered in the rooms.
