9. Either count on the final cost of your stay to be at least $100 more than what they tell you it will be, or make them work out the various taxes and service charges (and parking fees) for you beforehand, BEFORE you commit to a room.

10. One thing we did avoid was the $20 per night parking fee, because we parked in the public garage behind the hotel and when we left on New Year's day, all the parking lot attendants were off duty and left the gates open.
