2. We liked this hotel in downtown San Diego which is located in walking distance to the Gaslamp Quarter (nice for dining in the evening - especially in the nice Mexican restaurants).

3. holiday inn downtown was a great place to stay with clean rooms , nice staff the location is ok but there are hotels that are more central and of course if you would like to be near the water you would choose a bayside hotel , where there is also a holiday inn.

Government travel budgets don't allow for the pricey hotels of the San Diego Harbor and Gaslamp Quarter, but while the 'light industrial' location of this hotel (by the Highway 5 bypass) isn't an area I would wander at night, I found the Holiday Inn Downtown to be an simple, perfectly adequate pleasant surprise.

10. It's a couple of blocks from Little Italy, which makes for a pleasant walk to lots of fantastic restaurants, but you'll probably want to cab to the major downtown venues like the convention center.
