1. That being said, they did try to make our stay comfortable (rate reduced, breakfast offered for day that room service didn't show up in time one morning & we had to leave), but it surely started our short 4 day visit off on the wrong foot.

3. We ended up going to the Bacchus parade wearing the clothes we traveled in, however, when we returned to our room the luggage was there with a hand written apology from the manager and a coupon for a free breakfast any time during our stay and a voicemail with a sincere apology.

4. We only ate one breakfast there but the buffet was wonderful and again the staff was superb, which is always my experience with the people of New Orleans.

5. The staff was very apologetic and offered us the night for free, a coupon for a free breakfast, and the promise to be upgraded to a balcony room the next night (again we were dealing with the hotel being sold out).

6. Compare to other hotels in the area, like the JW (half the price, double the luxury, but on canal st) or the Ritz (also overated in New Orleans, but much better rooms and the have a spa, unlike Omni), or go a star level down (but a room level up) with free breakfast and a historic feel at Iberville Suites.
"Strange mix of outstanding and unacceptable... " Read full review on TripAdvisor   8/9/2009 Vote
7. We tried the famous Beignets for breakfast at Cafe du Monde and they are good but be warned, it's all the cafe sells with tea, cooffee and juices.
"A good hotel in a good location " Read full review on TripAdvisor   7/17/2009 Vote
8. do I need to say more; Acme Oyster House (twice); found a great little place for breakfast, Cafe Fleur de Lis, on Chartres Street (about two blocks from the Omni); bought a muffuletta from Central Grocery and ate it on the banks of the Mississippi; cemetery tour; ghost walk; World War II Museum (truly phenominal); and walked and walked all over the city exploring its beauty and listening to jazz and blues that seemed to ooze from every corner in the quarter.
