If you like staying in historic properties that take pride in their past and are also in step with the present (rooms have large flat-screen TVs,
wireless
connections), you'll like the Peabody.

On top of the room charge, there's an added service fee per night that entitles you to access the WiFi and have one complementary cup of coffee in the morning.

There is free coffee from 6 - 8am, free shoeshine, free newspaper and free
wireless
internet, 'free' means a cost of 11.95 a day, as we were on vacation the only thing we used was the internet.

I had a nice view of 2nd Street and a very strong and free
wireless
signal.

The only redeeming points are the free wifi and large flat screen tv with all the cable channels.

There is plenty of duck-gifts on offer in the hotel lobby and the corner bar was really good value and free cheese (always a winner!) Only downside is the 'complimentary' wifi and paper service actually costs you $13 - cheeky and unnecessary.

What really annoyed me was the additional $12 per day service charge for such things as
wireless
internet (I didn't have a PC so was charged to use the Fedex office), coffee (too early) shoeshine (I'm a tourist) and paper ($2 at best).

If I were able to turn it down, you still would get
wireless
, access to below super 8 style coffee service, and a sub-par to Usatoday near shopping news quality paper.

Only issue is with the $9.95 per nite fee imposed for
wireless
, health club, etc. It is not an option but a requirement.
