1. The only downside I can see is that if you like walking, and want to walk to places like union square, you had better be fit and not carrying too mch because it is quite a steep grade to get to the hotel from those places.

7. The hotel does not have a public laundry however I found one about 10 min walk (downhill) which was convenient.
