I found the location to be excellent and I was able to
walk
down to Union Square and down to the Pier without any issue.

The location proved to be excellent as it was an easy
walk
down the hill to Union Square for shopping and dining (although not so easy of a
walk
up the hill to go home if you don't want to take the cable car).

It was also a nice scenic cable car ride over to Fisherman's Wharf and a quick
walk
to Chinatown.

Cable cars at your doorstep (North Beach restaurants are a reasonable downhill
walk
, nice cable car ride uphill 'home').

The location is really perfect since you
walk
out of the hotel and turn right a few steps to one of the main line cable cars.

It's also Chinatown close, if you can handle the steep
walk
(we like to
walk
down to dinner, cab back as our midwestern girl is not a hill hiker).
"Marriott experience, with cable car access you can't beat! "

It is a short

You are right on the top of the hill so it's really good if you
walk
to Union Square,Chinatown or North Beach, but in the way back be sure to be well trained to clim the hill.
