Cable cars at your doorstep (North
Beach
restaurants are a reasonable downhill walk, nice cable car ride uphill 'home').

The area is more residential than commercial (unlike the area where most of the big hotels are), but it's a short walk to Union Square, Chinatown, and North
Beach
, and the Fairmont and one of the Intercontinental properties are on the same block.
