2. I've stayed at the Westin St Francis, Westin Market Street, Marriott Marquis, Hilton and Parc 55 and all of them are much better than the Adagio.

3. Over-zealous house-keepers can be bothersome if you linger in your room, but they keep the place spotless, and the double-glass windows (that open) do their best to shut out street noise.

4. I did not want to stay in any of the Lombard Street motels - decent as many are - because I was alone in the city and don't always feel quite comfortable walking in that neighborhood.

8. Hotel itself very quiet, but there was some street noise--sirens, etc. Only caution is that the location is fairly close to the Tenderloin district, so don't go in that direction, go toward Union Square.

9. The double decker tour buses hang out just down the street (hop on, hop off) that can help you see the sites faster.

10. If you love shopping is a mall acroos the street from the cable car plus all the store you have over Powell street.
