Could recommend, for travels, Dottie's True Blue Cafe for one of the very, very best breakfasts in San Francisco (they are going to move in the near future to a rather sketchy location, but for now, it's on Jones); if all you want is tourist food, try Lori's Diner at Sutter and Powell or Sear's Fine foods for Pancakes.
