1. The help one of the reservation managers gave (thanks Sulinn) to make this week really special for my mom's birthday.

2. After that, we were told by a manager that we were welcome to move to another hotel if we wanted to see the ocean from our room, since the Westin Vila Resort had no rooms for non-owner guests from which the ocean could be seen.

3. It was at that point that the manager said they would try their best and then found us a room with a view of the ocean (which apparently was an 'ocean front' room).

4. We finally found rooms in another hotel that would become available after a couple of days and told the manager that we would be happy to move.

5. No view of the ocean was possible from the room nor from the balcony - even when (literally) leaning over the side, standing on our tip toes on the balcony, etc.The receptionist and (later) two managers confirmed to us that this was not a mistake.

7. the manager was basically the same, friendly as hawaiians are, but not concerned at all that i was not okay with my room, i asked to see one that had a view of the ocean, and a patio and she said there was one room i could see, - that room was 100 miles away from the resort, and the view was of a big dirt empty lot, and then the ocean behind that (still blocked by palm trees).

8. I wrote ahead to make arrangements with the restaraunts' chef and food service manager--they even procured gluten-free pasta, bread and brownie mix so the kids could enjoy evenings out.

9. However at the end Sonia Steverson (office manager) was able to find one that we were very happy with and at a lower rate.

10. We could have easily have asked Tosh, our assigned personal room manager to help us with getting things in and out of our car.
