1. We ate in a couple of restaurants there and there is an ice cream/gelato shop that sells the BEST ice cream or was it gelato(?) I've ever had -- really.

7. The Sheraton provides a good location for a drink and a stroll and there are restaurants across the street within walking distance (make sure you go to Puka Dog and try the gelato place, both are awesome).

8. But if you want sun, sea, sand, swimming, good local shops and restaurants, clean comfortable and modern accommodation, and easy access to the rest of Kauai then unit #434 in the Kiahuna Plantation is definitely the place to stay.
