Local vendors sell fresh fruits, home made malasadas, pastries, Kona coffee, soaps, etc. Also, if you like authentic Japanese food, venture over to the Ala Moana shopping center (pink trolley takes you there for $2.00) and check out the top floor of the Shirokiya department store--they have an entire floor of Japanese food vendors and you can get fresh sushi, tempura, shrimp, bento lunches, pastries, etc. all for a reasonable price (a lot of locals were eating there).

8. Best seafood chowder I have ever had (not trying to exaggerate, but man it was fresh and tasty!), and the prices were reasonable.
