2. lots of space between equipment, cold water available, music, etc. the pool is great for laps (long and narrow) and the deck area around the pool is lovely (though a little hot during the afternoon heat, but that's phoenix).

3. If you walked out onto the deck off the gym they had a pool that was long enough to lap swim for exercise as well as a nice pool bar (although it was not open sometimes when I was out there).
