8. The hotel itself has a lot of character - made up of several different buildings with brick exterior walls and a middle, courtyard area - apparently the hotel used to be one of the first boys schools in Louisiana.

Other recommendations: dinner at Lillette's in the Garden District, the Bloodies from the restaurant around the corner Pierre Antoines (drink them every morning on your balcony), and the terrific, freshly made sandwiches from the cute little deli around the corner (also enjoyed on our exterior balcony.
