1. The carpets were old, flat and stained and the queen bed sunk in the middle so bad it was hard to sleep well some nights.

5. The bed mattresses where stiff, uncomfortable and had rips in the box spring, who knows how old they where but they needed replacing.

7. Our apartment was on the ground floor, and on first appearances much of the furnishings and carpets were 'tired' - the sofa-bed was threadbare in places and had seen better days, the tables, TV unit, dining table and hall stand were marked and scratched.

10. Probably not much smaller than a nice 2-brm apartment (~1200 ft2), well laid out, VERY clean and new, comfortable furnishings (incl a foldout sofa bed in the living room, king size bed in the master bedroom etc).
