1. The prices are very reasonable and the shared washrooms are far from dorm standards.

2. The only reason I'm keeping my rating at 'average' is because the common spaces at the hotel are quite welcoming and the smell of Stumptown coffee greets you at the door.

3. Yes, this hotel is self-consciously hip and funky, but I found it charming--love Stumptown coffee, which is in the lobby, love the deli next door, and it's one block from Powell's Books, which is the main reason I go to Portland in the first place.
