1. There is a nice lounge on the main level, and although there are no vending machines in the hotel, the front desk staff offered me a free soda from the lounge so that I didn't have to go out to a convenience store at night.

3. Another hotel was suggested to me, but I had discovered the Onyx by accident and based on convenience to the T and to the TD Garden, so my friend who I was traveling with decided to spend a few bucks more and stay there.

5. Having said that, the Onyx is convenient to the North End and to the Faneuil Hall area, and it's easy to drive to and from this hotel, so it's a good bet for tourists.

9. ($10 won't go very far, however, when it's $6 for a large bottle of water or $4 for a bag of chips that elsewhere costs less than $1: the price of convenience, I guess.

10. The location was perfect for our purposes--only a couple of blocks from the T for the younger members of our group--and having an Au Bon Pain right across the street was very convenient too.
