1. As we were waiting in the hotel lobby for our room to be cleaned, we were greeted by the new general manager, Marcanthony.

2. While the front desk was generally responsive and helpful, in the six nights we stayed there the groom's luggage went missing and our marriage documentation got thrown out by housekeeping.

4. I stayed at the 6th floor, and it was generally quite quiet, safe for the occasional noise from our air-conditioner at night.

5. I have no problem with this generally but it's not necessarily what you wanted to be confronted with when on holiday.

The hairdryer was broken, insufficient cleaning had left clumps of hair on the armchairs completely ignored, and the general furnishings showed all the signs of scrimping and saving on the proprietors' part; furniture and units (probably from Ikea) that might have looked slick when first bought for the hotel's 2008 opening but only three years down the line look tacky and tired.

We stayed at the Hotel Rivington while on honeymoon and overall had a good stayThe positives - The lower east side is less touristy and has lots of gorgeous boutiques nearby to explore- The hotel was just one block from the Essex subway station- The staff were generally very friendly and welcoming- The room was always well cleaned and well stocked, room service bringing cookies every afternoon.
