I went down to the reception again, and this time they really did a check up, and realized that there was something wrong and fixed it, and gave me a sincere apology, and
free
breakfasts.

Visually the hotel is great, but now to the flaws:The
free
WiFi is really bad, and at certain times during the day it doesn't work at all.

My first stay here (in July 2011) was so crazy awful that they gave me a
free
night (that I used August 2011).

I'd requested a room on a high floor and got one allocated -in fact they allocated a
free
upgrade and the room was a good size, with a massive hot tub in the bathroom too.

A 5 minute walk to soho and East village, rooms are a good size for nyc standards (we have a sitting area and 2 large suitcases and we can still move around easily) and
free
wifi.

My pet peaves were all addressed here: plenty of big white towels in the bathroom (not the standard kimpton 2), complimentary wifi (for any hotel more expensive than $100/night, it should always be
free
), friendly front desk staff.

Wireless internet really makes a difference, I still don't get why some hotels charge.
