The breakfast room (jam-packed for the complimentary breakfast) is also in the basement; while the breakfast is a perfectly serviceable standard conference-style buffet (scrambled eggs, mediocre pastries, omelet bar) it's a shame to eat a boring breakfast in a hotel basement when Portland has such fabulous breakfast spots (including Bijou Cafe on the corner).

2. It seems that they are more concerned about making hotels `hip and modern` that they feel no guilt or shame when stripping buildings of fine mouldings and fixtures.
