2. Have no complains about the rooms/facilities/etc, but the internet connection is absolutely TERRIBLE.

3. In fact, when we stayed at the Embassy Suites in 2010 my mom was so mad about the wi-fi charge that she complained to the management.

4. I realize that I should have complained to the management but I was on a quick turn around and had to hurry home and didn't have time to do it.

5. The only advantage is that the small window faced a heating/air duct and we didn't hear a peep from outside/any bar noise as others have complained about.

A few little quibbles: on one day, the room was not cleaned until we called the front desk to complain; packets of coffee for the in-room machine were not replenished; and the air-conditioning system made a fair amount of noise (though in fairness, Portland was experiencing unusual 100-degree heat).

7. The front desk staff always seemed to be chomping on gum and could never manage to look you in the eye, the doormen were often horsing around as I left or arrived, the bartender was complaining in front of me about back of house politics to his coworker, etc.
