8. The staff was wonderful (especially the friendly and always-cheerful host at the Islands Dining Room -- I wish I had gotten his name), the grounds were lush (this hotel provided us a much better view from our room than the other 2 Universal hotels did in the past), the pool was great, our room was a nice size (more spacious than the comparable room at the hard Rock), there's a nice selection of restaurants on the property, the spa looked very well-equipped (though I didn't use it) -- and our stay cost less than it would have at either of the other 2 hotels.

9. ) We tried to get into the Portofino or hard Rock for the Easter break week but were unsuccessful, so we 'settled' for the Royal Pacific and discovered that we were completely wrong in our original assessment.

10. I had always thought of the Royal Pacific as the 'least' of the 3 hotels; the Portofino is the most luxurious, the hard Rock is the cool hotel (I can't believe I'm actually saying that), and the Royal Pacific, I assumed, was just sort of the third hotel.
