I ended up not eating there since I didn't have time for a sit-down breakfast in the restaurant and I felt the room service was
expensive
even before the 20% PLUS $3 charge.

The W Hotel was more
expensive
and other hotels within walking distance to UCLA looked too dated, whereas the Palomar was renovated around 2008.

There is a private car service which you can use (I used it to get to LAX) and it was a wonderful experience and not that much more
