Normally, when there's an issue like this, it isn't a big deal, unless you have a cold child coming in from the heated pool, and you have to walk around the hotel to the front door to get a new key; or come in from an excursion with a little girl who needs a diaper change, and you have to haul everything to the other side of the hotel to get a new key; or you've just arrived and after checking in, you've driven around to the door closest to your room, loaded up with all your bags, and your key doesn't work.
