5. I found the Metropolis by accident - I`d booked a room on a travel Web site at the York Hotel, a sister hotel not faraway, only to arrive there from the airport with all my stuff and find that the hotel had booked me on the wrong day.

6. Yes, it was a half block in the wrong direction, but that was manageable because otherwise the location was fantastic.

7. However, make a wrong turn at night on Turk Street (the actual street the hotel entrance is on--it is not on Mason), and you will have, at best, a scary experience.
