1. the area isn't all that bad keep in mind this is down town and mostly all the down town are the same atleast here in miami fl is similar to there just stick to the mels diner's street and you'll be just fine.

7. Just behind the hotel you are in a neighborhood which has a bad reputation and does have it share of interesting characters shuffling around, and yes the sight of the odd crack addict might shock people.
