I know this place has a reputation for being in the

part of town, and that might be true, but we walked to restaurants and to the cable car stop at Market Street and felt fine about it.

As far as the time spent there, it wasn't

at all, just not the most convenient place to stay if you want to spend time in China Town, Union Square of Fisherman's Wharf.
