1. The guy then says oh he can't do anything and that only the owner can approve it but unfortunately the owner is out of town.

After me unfortunately losing my temper the manager agreed to find us rooms elsewhere but after a wait we were told that there was in fact one room still available at La Quinta and that one couple would have to stay at a nearby hotel for the first night and that a room was available at La Quinta for the other 2 nights.

4. They were doing testing on the fire alarms, which I know is unfortunate that I was there during that time, but they started testing very early.

5. The Liberty desk lamps are unfortunately no longer a feature of the rooms ;-(Continental breakfast is served every morning and looked OK but I didn't try it and so can't really comment.
