1. During the last half of our stay, the noise was not a problem, but the first 2 nights there was a basketball team staying in the rooms across the hall, and going back and forth to the elevators and hanging out in the hallway.

2. Why do some people say that is 'shady' or a 'sketchy part of town'??? We have walked back to our room at all hours of the night both through the main El Cortez building and via the side streets around it and have not ever had a problem or even felt like we would but to each his own.

9. Never had a problem with housekeeping, but I also make sure to secure my belongings (as you would in any hotel).
