1. There are so many new hotels downtown now it will be difficult for me to recommend the Gaslamp Hilton anymore.

2. Amtrak noise can be an issue here particularly between 10pm and 3am( they blast the horn for about a mile before even passing the hotel) so definitely recommend using the provided earplugs regardless.

3. (It is probably 2.5-3 miles walking each way)I recommend this hotel for the location if you can get a good deal and expect to be out in the city instead of shut in your room.

4. I highly recommend a stroll up the trail for restaurants and attractions like the USS Midway and ferry over to Coronado Island.

5. I walked across the island, but it is almost 3 miles across, so if you aren't used to walking that long or don't have the time, I recommend other means of transportation.
