1. Breakfast was delivered to our room in the morning and was ample (each person had a choice of juice, fruit, yogurt and entree (we chose cereals and the giant croissants with choice of jams), and all of us enjoyed the complimentary hot chocolate, coffee and tea in the lobby several times during our visit.

2. We were greeted very pleasantly by the woman at the front desk who was great with our kids and very helpful both with directions and with getting our 19 year old connected to the complimentary wifi when she had a problem.

3. Aside from the usual lavish amenities such as the complimentary internet service and continental breakfast delivered to your door each morning, the Independent recently kicked it up a notch with the addition of Keurig single cup coffee brew machines to their rooms.

The hotel receptionist spent at least an hour talking on the phone while we enjoyed the complimentary wine and cheese (which was a nice way to meet other guests)and she was not the slightest bit interested in the guests although she did manage to lodge a wake-up call while in the middle of her other business.
