However, offering such
rate
s for a nice historic hotel in a prime location, with a nicer British decor has to have a catch.

We found a good
rate
of $125 however had to use their valet parking for $30/night - there seems to be no other overnight parking option in Downtown Houston and it probably wouldn't be any cheaper.

We missed the room block
rate
at the Marriott, and the price went up considerably, so after reading the reviews, I somewhat hesitantly booked at the Lancaster via a discount booking website.

Check around for good deals as the
rate

If I had to be near the courthouses or downtown Houston businesses I would probably consider staying here again for the character and variety from the standard chain but only if the
rate
was comparable or less than the other options.

When I arrived the Lancaster said I had selected a Governement
Rate
and proceeded to raise my charge from $109 to $165 the first night, higher the second night and over $200 for the 3rd night.

I sure know what a government

is and would never select one.

The Lancaster, where I usually stay when visiting Houston for business in the downtown area, is still a bargain at the $140-ish
rate
s that they usually charge.
