2. An observant walk round the surrounding streets will reveal a buzzing little scene of cool cafes, cutting edge bars, a fabulous Mexican fast food joint just up the road, galleries, etc etc. If youre really stuck and want a quick bite to eat, there's also the tired looking Italian place on the corner that does a great early bird menu and has friendly staff.

6. Finally, enjoy the neighborhood, particularly El Rey, the bodega across the street with the best cafe con leche in the United States, and Notsuoh (Houston spelled backward), a funky bar a few doors down on Main Street which Robert Pattison of Twilight discovered on a trip to Houston and has raved about ever since.
