1. We were lucky that the airline was able to get us on a later flight and book us on a morning flight the next day without charging us for a new ticket (at a cost of over $400!).

5. The day before departure, the receptionist on being asked to arrange a cab to the airport, advised us to book a ferry cab which would have eight people on the same journey so the cost would be much less.

10. Quite serviceable -- it certainly wasn't a luxury hotel, but if I wanted luxury in Manhattan, it would have cost me about $300/night more.
