1. Every time we called for a refund in the next few days, the hotel staff would give us the runaround and tell us a different story.

5. It's anectdotal, but when I was checking out, another woman was throwing a fit because her room was dirty, had hair pins on the floor, etc. and she wanted a refund after spending only 20 minutes in the room.
