I understand the principal behind doing it this way, it seems like it should be more convenient for guests, but it really doesn't work out like that when the check-in man has to run back to reception anyway to run your credit card through before coming back and giving you all the final paperwork etc. If there was a more efficient way of doing the in-room check-in, I'm sure it would be more of a benefit, but at the moment, I think it's a slightly annoying experience when you just want to get everything sorted and get into your room as soon as possible.
